I recently had my 1800 3-main crank reground, and was wondering
about the crank journal oil restrictors. According to the Bentley
exploded diagrams and the Moss catalog, it looks like there are four,
one on each rod journal (?) I've read that the OEM brass restrictors
can pop loose and damage the bearings. They seem to be unavailable
now, at least from Moss and VB. My questions are:
1) Are they necessary? How do they affect oil pressure?
2) Where can you get them, or a reasonable facsimile?
3) How are they best installed?
