It is a bit of a tricky job. I also used the rubber gaskets, but used
silicone sealer to adhere them to the cover before assembly. This was
recommended by a restoration shop owner. Then I used some Permatex black #2
sealer on the outside of the gasket. I remember I did have to play around a
bit in tightening down the covers. The vent cover I remember when I tried to
hold it straight on the engine block, it turned to the left as I tightened
the bolt. It has not leaked for 5 years.
