I was riding my Ducati one time, stupidly nestled all
up under the ass end of an 18-wheeler, and the truck
decided to blow a tire. There was a huge "boom!" and
the carcass of the retread came up flying up under the
front wheel the the bike, whipped around the side and
smashed into the right footpeg area, badly breaking my
ankle. Those retread carcasses are HEAVY.
The bike went into a wicked tank-slapper, and I
thought I was going to get thrown off into traffic,
but fortunately it all settled back down. And so
there I was - 400 miles away from home with a broken
ankle and a sportbike...
I learned my lesson that day, and never crowded a
truck again. In a car or on a bike.
