The factory recommended multi-grade for all climates. 20W/50 or thereabouts
for 'temperate' climates and above going down to 10W/40 or thereabouts for
cold and 5W/20 for even colder. It's getting harder to find 20W/50 in the
UK these days, GTX changed to 15W/50 some years ago which was an
improvement, now it is 15W/40 which is noticeably thinner. Why do you want
to change? Is 40 grade so much cheaper that you would risk your engine?
