The conversion is successful! After retuning the carbs, the 79 is running
well. Just a little tweaking of the timing will probably be needed. I
really can't tell much power difference between the HIF's and the ZS, but
then again I haven't really driven the 79 for almost a year, with only one
exception about a month ago (with the ZS on it). I think it is running
cooler with the HIF's though; maybe it's just because I may have had the
timing too advanced on the ZS set up. The under-bonnet area sure looks a lot
less cluttered.
The conversion was really quite straightforward; no motor mount shims
needed, just some minor bits and pieces. I even used the old exhaust system
off the 74 parts car.
