The front fenders, like most modern cars, are just bolted on.  The only
real difference is the bead line at the top of the fender that joins the
cowl.  Three bolts at the bottom rear of the fender, three or four in
the interior, four at the front of the fender below the lights and the
most obvious, the bolt line running down the fender in the engine
compartment.  The lower part at the sill does not join the body like the
rear fender, hence the problems we get with rust in that area.  The only
issue is fitting new fenders to the car.  Fiberglass and aftermarket
fenders are the worst for fit.  If you plan to buy new ones, get OEM,
Rover or Steel Craft manufactured fenders.  They cost more but are worth
it.  Example, when I took the fenders off my 67, the right was repro and
the left was OEM.  The left came off smoothly while the right one
literally popped off, due the stress that was placed on it to fit the
body.
