Finally getting around to installing my replacement dash from Bee Hive. I
stripped the old vinyl and foam backing off the metal dashboard and it looks
like it is going to be an installation just like you said yours was from
LBCarco. You are definitely right about NOT reading the instructions, it makes
it sound worse than what it really is. I wasn't sure how much to strip away
and so I started pulling off just the vinyl to plat it safe and then realized
that the soft foam should come right off with it also. The new dash had the
soft foam as a part of it and should be able to go right on with some good
glue. When you said use a good industrial glue, not hardware store glue what
kind did you use? Seems like a good foam/vinyl to metal like DAP Weldwood
contact cement should work (Shows the applications on the can), but I'm
specifically wanting to know what you used and why you said stay away from
hardware store type.

Whoa! My thing from LBC co. had all the foam etc. Just laid it over the
metal and bingo! - all perfect. I think yours is going to be hard to get to
look absolutely perfect. I would return the thing to Bee Hive and get a good
replacement..................as per Moss catalog

I have one from Bee Hive and it has just a thin layer of foam on the vinyl
skin. It recommends stripping off the old vinyl skin along with ONLY the SOFT
FOAM, I am to leave the RIGID FOAM in place to support the new vinyl skin.

Do not know about your replacement but with mine it had all the foam. I
completely stripped the dash, painted it and laid the new vinyl and foam
thing. Two things I learnt
1) Get an industrial strength adhesive that the body shops use - Do not
even go close to hardware stores.
2) Do not follow the instructions that come with the replacement thing.
Put the cover on and get familiar with where it should sit. Then cut out the
switch holes but smaller than is required. Put the cover on and push in the
switches - this will align the cover. Cut out one of the small gauges -
careful - not too big. Nick the edges so the gauge slides in (carefully!!)
You should absolutely not be in a hurry.
I got my cover from LBC Company (Detroit) and it had all the foam
required - no cutting no shaping.
