Larry Hoy sent out a really detailed site a while back: http://www.faqs.org/faqs/autos/gasoline-faq/part1/ Buried somewhere within is the generalization of two points of octane per point of A/f ratio change, so if you lean it out one point then you need to go two points higher octane rating.
