Good one....

Even beyond the quality issue is the fact that the US manufacturers now
have most of their eggs in the SUV and light truck basket.... I am in the
process of relacing my '95 VW Jetta with something a little more upmarket
and am considering the Audi A4 1.8T, Saab 9-3 and Acura TSX (and probably
BMW 3-Series although that is 1) more expensive and 2) I'd prefer a
non-RWD car)... There are no American cars in the $30k price range that I
would consider and frankly, no American sedans I'd consider at all except
perhaps the Lincoln LS and Cadillac CTS (both more than I want to spend
and I don't particularly care for the styling of either one). If the
SUV/light truck craze dies down, American manufacturers will be left with
nothing to sell.
