Dennis,
You neglect to mention what kind of a car this is on. However, if the
standard taps and dies are wrong, it's most likely BSP (British Standard
Pipe) threads. These are somewhat different from US pipe threads. Many
of the dealers will sell taps and dies such as British Tools & Fasteners
in Los Osos, CA.
Be careful, however, as there are both straight and tapered versions.
You'll need to know which one you have before ordering the taps.

and clutch pipe connectors to prevent cross-threading and ruining a

I have never found the thread pattern to match anything I have in my tap

die sets to accomplish the necessary "dressing".
Our local hydraulic and brake shop cannot identify the threads either.
I would be interested in owning the necessary threading and flaring
tools if
I knew what to buy. It would be nice to fabricate new lines or at least
be
able to keep the existing ones healthy.
Can someone give me this data?
