The '1' of the 1800 cast into my MGB's block is just big enough to get
in the way when installing/removing motor mounts. Something that I
find myself doing way too often. I'm very tempted to just take a
grinder and convert my block from an "1800" to an " 800" (and maybe
improve gas mileage while I'm at it).
I can't think of any reason why this would cause problems. Balance
shouldn't be issue on non-reciprocating mass, and I don't think that
it should be necessary for reinforcing any gonkulators that I might
install. Even so, I just thought that I'd check before doing something
stupid.
Also, what tool should I use for this? My inclination is to use my
angle grinder as it's the tool I have that would probably do the job
the quickest and easiest.
