Just joined here in an effort to help a friend with a '77 MGB. He's lost
interest and now wants to part company with the car, but here's the rub -
it's in pieces. Here's the general description:
Mostly solid sheetmetal, only needs "doglegs" and finish/paint work. Engine
(with Weber DGV) was recently rebuilt when he bought the car '93 or '94-ish.
Ran really well at that time. Hasn't been driven since about '97 or '98.
Will obviously need fluid replacement and general maintenance before
refiring. Has brand new Monza exhaust on the car. Drivetrain/suspension is
all still on car, interior (except dashboard) is gutted. All trim, bumpers,
etc, except windows are OFF the car. Almost all parts are there, needs
steering wheel, arm rest, and one or two other parts. Will also need
carpet, upholstery kits and top, although the originals are still with the
car. New wiring harness would also be a wise investment. Also has fitted
cover and shop manual(s).
My personal belief is that someone with a talent for bodywork could have
this ready for rebuild in no time and it could be rebuilt and on the road in
short order. The cosmetics (interior, top, etc.) could be done any time
after that. As I said, this is a mostly solid car in need of some TLC and a
new owner with a real desire for one of these little roadsters.
Questions?? Ask away....
Thanks.
George P.
