Pulling Engine in a Spit

to get at the flywheel/clutch is not necessary. As I remember  the tranny
tunnel in a spit is removable isnt it, due to fact that a spit is body on
frame construction and the tunnel is made out of cardboard (fibre board) as
its not needed as part of the monocoque like midgets and B's  . So if you do
have to get at the flywheel do it from inside the car :)
