For about a year I used a stowaway top frame in my '71. The only thing that
I had to do was get shorter screws to mount the sockets behind the doors
after removing the folding top. You will also need a new top as the stowaway
is taller then the folder. I liked it when living in Colorado because I
would leave the top at home unless I thought it was going to rain all day.
In a wetter climate I don't know if it is worth the change because you give
up a lot of good trunk space when the top is down.
