Eric,
On my 72 B the bars are for a top cover that you can put on when the top is
down to make a smooth area over the top. I have heard that some people use
this for a tonneau as well, but I couldn't see much benefit when using my
tonneau.

Subject: MGB tonneau bars ?
I'm wondering about 'tonneau bars' (I've seen some on eBay). I don't
have an owner's manual for our 1978 MGB.
Are these needed for our 1978 MGB? I do see a small rectangular
bracket where the folding top attaches to the body (behind the door
post).
Am I correct in assuming the tonneau bars support the tonneau cover,
preventing it from sagging? And one would fold the driver's side over
this bar when driving solo?
TIA,
Eric
