Complete the high voltage sector (with the cap off so there's no
rotor-action) by placing a coin across the center electrode and the
electrode to the wire on the plug you're testing.
Make sure this can't ignite a cylinder and run over your foot by having the
shift in neutral and the parking brake on.

Spark delivered at the right time to the right plug. The static ignition
timing might be way off, or the plug-wires crossed-up.
