Yes, fuel is normally in there. Never seen a problem. Use Permatex
Aviation sealer to seal the sender after making sure the surface of the
tank and sender are clean and straight.

On the fuel sending unit on a TD and A, does the unit have a seal to
keep
the gas from getting into the variable resistor? My unit is dripping out
the
back plate. Should gas even be in there?
