That location doesn't reflect the correct temperature either.  It's
basically the temperature of the coolant coming out of the radiator. 
Coolant comes out of the radiator through the pump down the square
external water gallery under the exhaust manifold, and back into the
block where most of it goes up into the head.  Thus that's the coolest
point on the head.  The hottest point is at the front of the head.
