Well, I figured you were thinking of one of those. I guess it doesn't matter
if the hole is in the drum, because when you adjust the brakes, you always
have the wheel off the ground, anyway. And the advantage is that it's right
in front of you, not where you have to crawl to get at it (behind). Although
on a B there is no need to take the wheel off for a quick adjustment.
Would this plug be rubber (like the ones on the backing plate) or metal? Or
don't you use plugs? I would think the drum would get too hot for a rubber
plug, but a metal one might be hard to pop in and out frequently (after all
those heating/cooling cycles).
Anyway, my point was that on Monte's 67 B, at least, the hole was not needed
for adjustment, and he could plug it if he wished. I admit I don't know for
sure if it changed before 79, but I kind of doubt it.
