Wet liner or maybe wet sleeve. The bare cylinder block has no cylinder
bores. Each cylinder is a seperate sleeve that is clamped between
shoulders at the bottom of the cylinder block and the cylinder head.
There are thin solid copper gaskets at the bottom. Thus the coolant
runs against the liner = wet liner. Triumphs originally used 2 litre,
but later a 2.1 litre sleeve was available. For a time you could even
get 2.2 litre sleeves
On older International tractor engines, F20 through at least M, they
used a dry liner. These engines had a removable liner (not a press fit
sleeve) which was a hand fit into the block which did have cylinder
walls. These liner's do not come in contact with the coolant. The
engine's weren't intended to be bored. If the cylinder liner's bore was
worn, you pulled out the sleeve and replaced it with a new one.
