Subject: A Tip
Spent Saturday doing some refurbishment on the GT's front suspension. Hit a
problem I've seen discussed before. I believe I've hit on a good solution to
a common problem:
My GT has wire wheels. The grease retaining cup was rusted in a bit and all
threads had been removed from the removal stud by over zealous application of
pliers (do I hear DPO?). After trying every pair of pliers I owned, I hit
upon a fix. I drilled four 7/32" holes around the perimeter of the cup and
proceeded to drive 2 1/2" drywall screws into each. Gentle application of my
Wonder Bar (pry bar) to each in turn eased the cup out quite smoothly.
