When replacing the valve I use Permatex High Tack or something
similar. Give it a few minutes to get mostly dry otherwise it acts
more like a lubricant and can force the gasket to spread and lose it's
sealing ability. Be sure to sand the face of the valve with 80 or 100
grit paper placed on a very flat surface, like a drill press table or
a thick piece of glass, you would be surprised how warped they can be
even when new. If you are replacing with a used valve , take it apart
and check the diaphragm and the valve itself, they corrode away and
the diaphragm will crack and leak causing them to drip on the dist.
and cause problems. Bolt it up tight but not to the point of warping
it again, don't forget to recheck it for tightness after it's been in
use for awhile.
