Promotion can't make people buy anything they don't want. The Edsel was
promoted out the wazoo, and the public hated it, and it went away. Remember
New Coke?
How about this: find a way to make it pay to "promote" fuel-efficient cars to
the public. Get 'em to buy 'em without a gun to their head. How's your
Toyota Prius running?
