The head is pretty straightforward. Of course be sure you remove all the
old gasket material. If I'm going to that much work, I personally like to
spend the extra money to replace the studs. When you've got the studs out,
check the block around the stud holes. If the top thread has pulled up, you
might need to countersink the hole. Check the head throroughly for any
cracks.
If you've got a lot of carbon built up, you might want to clean some of that
out while you have access.
