I had a similar problem with my B. I drive it about 200 miles a day to work
(on a tollway). It would begin cutting out at speed. I too, thought it was
the fuel filter and pulled it out. No good. Next time it stopped, I pulled
the carb bowl covers off (I run SUs) Empty. Went to the fuel pump, it was
working. Found the fuel hose from the pump to the line was leaking. It would
flex occassionally and open or close. Replaced the line, no more problem.
What ignition system are you using. The first sign of an impending failure
in an electronic system is cutting out when hot, and working again after it
cools.
