Is it a 68 or 69C

Help!
I just bought what I thought was a 1968 MGC but after
looking up in Claussers book and talking with Jim
Craig and my brother, I think it might be a 1969. The
vin # is GCN1U/8808 G
G= MG
C= C
U= North America
8808= ?   What year?
G= Built in Abingdon
It has O/D,  high back seats and reflectors on both
sides front and back.
What do you think?
