Somehow it's even more fun showing my car off to other MG
owners. Kathleen came out of her apartment, and rather than the usual
pleasantries (a hug, shaking hands, hi it's nice to see you...) she
practically ignored me as she walked past me to check out Jasmine (my MG),
while she said all sorts of nice things about how nice Jasmine looked.

Our first stop was around the block to the garage where she keeps her
'76 roadster. By the way, she has two extra soft tops for the
roadster, used but seem to be in OK condition. They are in San
Francisco, if you need one send me email at lrc@red4est.com and I'll
pass the info along. I don't know how much she wants for them, but
they're probably pretty cheap.

After dinner, I let her drive my car. After she got used to different,
clutch, brakes etc. she kept commenting about how much more power my
car has than hers. Then again a fresh (1,000 miles) 1969 motor with a
mildly ported head, and cheater cam (albeit 8.0:1 compression) should
be a lot peppier than a '76 with 60,000 miles.

Kathleen also commented on how much "tighter" Jasmine's suspension
feels than on her RBB.

Unfortunately between the Sunset and the Haight in SF is not the best
place to show my car to it's best advantage. So we've got a date for
Monday for her to bring her MGB down to Santa Cruz where we can better
play with our cars. <gloat>

It was also kind of cool, when I was talking to her about how I'd
build an optimal MGB (for under $20,000), I realized that that was
what I had with Jasmine. Modulo the blower (that I hope to buy in the
next week or two), a watts linkage/panhard rod, and an LSD, to bring
my car up to "the next level" of performance would probably double the
cost, and for that, I'd be better off starting with a car that was
designed in the latter half of the 20th century.

I've found something worse than oldies station that play the music I used to
listen to. Oldies stations that play the "new" music I used to complain about.
