Kelvin Dodd of Moss is an active participant in this list. He's probably
read your request and stayed quiet out of Propriety. He doesn't blatantly
advertise for Moss, nor slam anyone else. But he is also an active hobbyist
and a wealth of information. Both on list and in private emails he's been
incredibly helpful to me in figuring things out. I was brand new to british
cars and not very experienced with cars in general, and many of my "dumb
newbie questions" were answered with great patience and care. VB, to my
knowledge, has no representative on this list.

I get both the Moss and VB catalogs, and read both. I have a problem,
though, with the VB catalog. As a new LBC person, I got VB catalog first,
and Moss second. I find the "Boy Racer" section of the VB catalog to be
misleading at best, and downright inappropriate at worst. They blatantly
sell "Weber DCOE, Crossflow Head, 2" exhaust, bolt on power! Sunday Sunday
Sunday!", which, from what I've read here over two years is just flat not
true unless you are building a largely unstreetable race only car.

They sell "Lightened Flywheel!!!!" without mentioning that it can lower
your low RPM torque. They tout the Crane electronic ignition an roller
rockers as being the second coming.

The car I was interested in before I got my MGB was the Acura Integra. You
can bolt on some Horsepower to the Honda 1.8L VTEC, so seeing the same
"free power!" crap from VB is very misleading. Here in the midwest it's the
cool thing to do to "let your engine breathe easier" with an exhaust large
enough to launch a cantaloupe. I find VB to be sensationalistic.

I cannot comment directly on experiences with either VB or Moss though.

I have ordered all of my parts through a reseller, LBCarCo.com. Jeff Zorn
is incredibly knowledgable, personable, and really seems to care not only
about the customers he sells to, but the cars themselves. He's a reseller
AND a hobbyist. I called him once to ask about an oddity in the product
listings, and he and I ended up having a conversation about oil leaks from
my B roadster. He mostly does Moss, I'm not sure if he can resell from VB
or not. He also has some items in neither, like the rear wind screen. His
prices on Moss stuff come in very affordable.
