I had the same thing happen mailing a postal MO north of the border. It
literally just disappeared.
I went to the post office I purchased the MO from with the receipt, and
reported it lost. You fill out a form, and I think it's about 80 cents and
they track it. If it isn't found in 30 days, they send you a new one made
out to your attention and cancel the old MO.
I don't think you can claim it lost for 30 days (or was it 60, I don't
remember) and there is a toll free number you can check on the status. If
someone did in fact cash it, they will provide you a copy of the cashed MO,
which supposedly shows the indentification methid used to cash/depoisit it.
Nobody is supposed to cash/deposit a postal MO without proof of the street
address.
I had my replacement money order on the 32nd day after I reported it missing.
It literally did fall off the face of the earth on the Candian postal system.
Hope this helps.
