Hi all,
Earlier in the week, I asked about paint to use for the black on the
Rostyle. I mentioned that,
I'd bought a mask and the prompted several queries about how it works,
where to get one, can
I buy yours when your done, etc.
So I did the spare tire today. It didn't take too long. It should
have taken longer. The short answer
is that, I didn't like it.
The long answer.
- It didn't fit very well. There was a lot of trimming to do to make
it go around the black area properly.
I ended up cutting the middle cross from the circumferance and taping
them down separately. I guess I didn't do
that too well, because it leaked thru a bit in those points.
- I spent probably 30 minutes taping it down. I'm thinking if I try
again, I'll do a bit better because I'll tape up the
outside ring and then the middle cross. Or maybe I'll just skip the
middle cross and just tape that area w/out the plastic.
Now, this wheel is just my spare, so I didn't spend the prep time I
probably would on the real thing.
However, I think for the next try, I'll just try painting by hand as
recommended by John Twist's FAQ on University
Motors website.
BTW, I used Rustoleum Satin Black enamel. I think that looks like a
good color.
I took 5 pictures, if anyone cares:

Paul.
