Tab,
        If the fuse blew instantly, that means something is shorting.
You may want to pull your radio out of the center console and check the
connections in there.  The attachment to my cigar lighter had a small
area of wire exposed and caused the area (radio, courtesy light,
lighter) to short.

PS - Had the same thing happen to me in my old Spitfire a year or so
ago.
