Well, back from vacation on Cape Cod and am back working on my broken
shock link. If you recall, I had frozen nuts (watch it!) and the bolt that
goes into the rounded (lower) end of the link was turning inside said
rounded end. So, I hack-sawed it off tonight and got the bolt flush with
the vertical portion of the u-bolt plate... "Easy", I figured, just tap it
with the hammer and pop it out! As the old joke goes, 'no soap, radio'...
I can turn the entire sheared bolt by using an open-ended wrench on the
nut but it won't pop out! I guess I will try chilling the bolt using some
ice tomorrow, since I think heat will only make it worse by expanding
it... Man, what a project!
The worse part is, every time I get under the car I see how bad my rockers
really are :-(
