I have run into a minor key problem. Not an ignition key. I'm thinking the
term is "woodruff key" although my Moss catalog only shows the parts in
question with the term "key." On the crankshaft, there are two of these
keys, one for the timing gearing and one for the pulley. A smaller one is
on the cam, for its timing gear.
The problem is that I did find the one key for the crankshaft but can't
locate the other one or the one for the cam. Naturally both parts are
already in the partially assembled 18V (1972) engine.
My guess is that these parts should be locally available. Even at Moss,
they are quite cheap 327-105 at $1.15 and 327-050 at $0.55. So my question,
does anyone know what size these are? I do have the one crankshaft one for
reference but I am going to have to guess the size of the smaller one or
maybe just buy a few smaller ones, hoping I get the right size. A minor
problem I suppose but maybe one of you knows the term I can use at the
parts store - like "Do you have a number 12 woodruff key?" or however it
would be referred.
