Before I start, this note references a 1967 MGB 18GB engine 0.030" over,
with new (VB) AE Clevite rings and new short-skirt pistons.

Can anyone help with some info? I pulled a real bonehead move. I pulled
the rings out of the packages expecting to see some marking on the rings
themselves (1-2-3-4, or something like that). I looked over the packages
and saw nothing to indicate which was which...until I happened to look at an
empty package in the trash, and saw a pictograph of a piston with an arrow
pointing to a ring groove. AHHHRGH!! By then I'd lost the sense of which
package went with which bunch of 4 rings.

Here's the deal. I do not want to buy a new ring set just so I can figure
out which goes where. The oil control ring is a no-brainer. It's the other
3 rings (4-ring piston) that are in question. It would appear to me that
the top ring (#1, compression) is one with a rectangular cross section, and
slightly chamfered corners (the two that face outward). It would also
appear that the #2 and #3 rings are the remaining two, both rectangular
cross section with no chamfer, step, groove, etc. Just plain old cast iron
rings they are. No reverse twist bevel on any of the three top rings also.
Oh, yes, no help from the VB website or the Dana Clevite website, either (I
was not able to find an AE website, though they've been in business in
Europe for years I understand).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
