The emission controls on the late B really don't make that much difference
in performance. Without changing the cam, the late B engine can't match the
earlier B.
Now, if you've got a plugged catalytic converter, that can definitely be
causing some problems.

Well, I'm a big fan of originality. However, a trip to the typical British
car show will show lots of MGB owners who don't worry about it.
