People seem to have mistaken the intent of my query. My conjecture is
that you you were to have a drag race with a

1962 Ferrari (250?)
1962 Corvette
1962 Porsche (356C?)
1962 MGB
2002 base model Civic
2002 Civic Dx
2002 Vtec Civic

The finishing order would be:

Vtec Civic
Corvette
Ferrari
Dx Civic
base Civic
MGB
Porsche

Given equivalent tires I've got no idea how the finishing order would
be in a slalom. I remember reading that Enzo Ferrari considered
himself and engine builder and that the rest of the car (like the
suspension) was of secondary importance.

I think that the older bigger cars might do better in laptimes around
a racetrack. That if you ran a 1 hour race at Sears Point or Laguna
Seca, the Ferrari, and Corvette would beat the two slower civics, and
might give a vtec civic a run for it's money.

My point would be that MGs get their butts kicked by even prosaic
modern cars, but then a lot of the old legends probably do as well.

I've found something worse than oldies station that play the music I used to
listen to. Oldies stations that play the "new" music I used to complain about.
