Maybe no one had any ideas apart from the obvious one of a new tank.  You
*could* consider welding the bit back on again I suppose, with suitable
precautions.  Haven't seen a reference lately but some time ago people used
to talk about using 'elephant snot' as a sealant as modern fuels seemed to
attack the rubber seal.
