2 overdrives in 40,000 miles !!!!!!!! I think that either the person who is
rebuilding the unit does not know his job OR the O/D is being abused.
The O/D on my GTE is original and has 126,000 miles on it and works
like the day it came out of the factory. Engagement is crisp and positive
and no slippage. The O/D on my MGB is has unknown mileage on it and
I have put 15,000 miles since installation - again n0 signs of problems.
and this in on a 3-synchro gearbox.
Personally - I'd get the O/D fixed properly and enjoy the car. There's
nothing like driving along a mountain road on a cool evening and flicking
the O/D in and out and hearing the exhaust resonate off the valley walls.
