  In a word: No!

There's no telling what some other owner or his mechanic may have
assembled in the past. The engine in my '69 B is an example. It's a GV
block with GH innards, including 4-ring pistons. The GH block needs a
sleeve and I traded some of my labor for a GV short block which would
clean up at + .030". You can pull the pan and pop out the pistons over
a weekend easily. Disconnect the front motor mounts from the mount pads
on the frame and jack up the front of the engine a few inches. Put some
wood blocks between the mounts and the mount pads and remove the jack.
Then you can unbolt the pan and drop it down and out. BT, DT on a '70
that I had.

Anyhoo, the first thing you need to do is measure the taper &
out-of-round in the cylinder bores in order to determine if new rings
will seat and last. Also, you need to find out if the bores are
standard oroversize.

  How about those ridges?

  Cheers,

  CR
