List,
It was late last night; after midnight, and I was finishing up the second
side of my suspension rebuild on my '58 MGA.
"Hmmm...while I'm under here, I might as well fill the steering rack
gearbox with oil. What was that? 30 weight in the engine and tranny, 20
weight cycle shock oil in the shocks, something else thin in the dashpot,
90 weight in the rear end, 30 weight in the steering box."
Oops! Needed a full 4 ounces to top off. I removed the zerk fitting, and
used a pump bottle and some aquarium hose. worked great...wrong oil!
Should have been 90 weight hypoid! Now what do I do? Do I need to flush
it? How can I drain it?
Sure steers easily, though!
Thanks in advance,
Steve
