Well, if your ear is confirming the tach reading, I don't see what it can be
except a slipping clutch.

30K would not normally wear out a clutch, but it's certainly possible. Or
you could have an oil leak into the bellhousing -- the tranny front seal
seems likely since you just had to top off the tranny oil (where did it
go?). Either way it all has to come out, so it really doesn't matter what
the problem is -- you'll soon find out.

The OD has a clutch, also, but that seems less likely; and again, it would
all have to come out anyway.

There is nothing in the tranny itself that could result in this behavior.

Look at it as an opportunity to clean up a lot of things in the engine
compartment... <g>
