Difference in curve between aluminum CBB and steel RBB hoods?

I've been told that there is a 1/2" difference in curve height between the two
hoods.  Can anyone confirm this?

If so, does anyone have a RBB steel hood in the Memphis area that I can borrow
for a few days?  I'm going to see if I can make a carbon fiber/fiberglass
hood.
