A bit of a rush. Finished work (on call) at 09:00hrs at straight to the
workers' briefing for registration/scrutineering for the 2002 Aussie
NatMeet. My thought was that I would put in a few hours work (can't let
the clubmates do *all* the work) and then rush home to do the final
fixings on my 'B for scrutineering. I needed to put my bumpers back on
or they would put me up a class for the competition events - I don't
know why, though. Can anyone tell me how much a chrome bumber weighs?
Hardly a weight advantage to lose the front bumper - just couldn't be
bothered putting it back on after installing the front spoiler!
Well, as it turned out, the job was harder than I thought. After two
years it seems I didn't quite have all the bits and pieces. So a bit of
sweat and worry (and a bit of fiddling under the hood/bonnet to tighten
down a few other bits that might get me in trouble) and I was back just
in time for the finish of scrutineering. Shhhh, don't tell the
scrutineers but my front bumper is just bolted to the fibreglass spoiler
:-) It will be on properly by the time the racing starts :-) and I am
just glad no-one leant on it!
The social event tonight was a major Noggin' and Natter to meet new
people from around the country and catch up with old friends.
Oh yeah, and I got to sit in a few cars that were on show by the local
MG-Rover dealer (yes, even cars that haven't been launched here yet). I
crawled all over and sat in this canary yellow MGF Trophy -
http://www.mgcars.com.au/mgcars/index.html - I quite like the yellow
exterior, but the yellow console and steering wheel inserts are a bit
hard to take :-) I would seriously like to take one of these things
around a race track!
And I even got to sit in... an MG-ZT and a MG ZT-T!!! Not launched in
Australia yet.

No, they don't feel like an MG, but they *are* pretty cool.
Concours tomorrow/Saturday (yes, my tatty yellow 'B is entered - an
extra point for the Club but it certainly won't win anything).
Motorkhana on Sunday and Sprints on Monday!
And so... to bed. I may not have a chance of winning anything at the
Concours but at least I should WASH the car - which means I will be up
at 06:00hrs <sigh>
Oh yeah.... I gotta do well on the track, so I have my new Potenza
RE540S tyres on:
http://www.autospeed.co.nz/A_0593/P_4/article.html and got a decent
deal at $AU210 each - ouch!
