Minor electrical problem

Hi guys....
I've noticed that when I turn the headlights on in my 1967 B the brightness
varies with the engine revs. Also when the engine is idling with the lights
on the tacho falls to zero for a second then comes back up despite the
engine running fine. The car is fitted with an alternator , not the original
generator and is negative earth. Any suggestions????
