  Sure sounds like the belt that drives the alternator, as
mentioned. It might be slipping on other pulleys though, so
check out the belt to be sure.

  Can you recreate the squealing while under the bonnet?

  Open the bonnet and have somebody start it. If it
starts squealing quickly pour a few litres of water on
the belt. It won't make the belt stop slipping but it'll
take away the squeal, so you can pinpoint it if it
stops right away.

  The above trick is useful if you have a soft continous
squeak that you can't find. Just let the engine idle
and pour a cup of water on each pulley until the noise
goes away.
