Frank,

We have not yet found a less expensive source for the heat shield - except a
Moss Distributor who might sell it to you for list less 10%.

As for the pistons, no problem using the 8.7:1 compression pistons unless
your cylinder head has been significantly shaved from its original depth
(see Moss catalog for this specification). We routinely use the high
compression pistons for the added power they give. No valves can come in
contact with them under any conditions, as far as we know. However, we did
build one engine with them which had a head that had been shaved more than
we had realized. It was remarkably powerful but would not stop pinging. We
found it had 185lbs. compression in each cylinder. We were able to reduce
that to 155lbs. by using two head gaskets. Still a strong engine but no more
pinging.
