I just got my mess of goodies from BritTek, including the Lucas Sport
coil. Before I go to far, I want to make sure I don't FTU.
I am working with a 1975 B, emissions removed, HIF4 carbs (if it
matters).
Am I correct in thinking that I need to bypass the white/greenstripe
wire going to the old coil, and run a white wire direct from the
fusebox where the other white wires are? A webpage for Triumphs
confirms this, but I want to make sure!
Is it correct to mount the Sport Coil upside down, ie so gravity pulls
the electricty out? :) (I am serious about the upside down, not so
much so about gravity)
On a related note, the coil I pulled off the car was a Mallory 29217
40KV coil, from what I read thus far it is 12V as well. Should this
have been ballasted? I ask, as it was ballested, not once but twice
by the previous owner. I measured 6V at the "high" end, 3V at the
coil. This is quite obviously wrong to me, but this coil will be a
perfectly good spare part, and if I need it, I would rather connect it
properly!
