If the car is hard to start, I doubt a new distributor will help. The problem
is most likely a breakdown in the plug wire insulation. Try replacing the
wires first.
It generally is not hard to install an electronic ignition. No special tools
are needed. Just take your time and follow the directions. The only thing to
be aware of is that you cannot static time an electronic ignition. You need a
timing light.
