Enrique, before you pull the head do a compression test. If you don't have
a tester ask a garage to do it for you. That should give you a pretty good
indication of the condition of the head gasket. I don't think a compression
gauge is that expensive, you might want to check you local parts store.

Subject: blown head gasket???
Hi list, I am still struggling to tune my weber but I feel I might have
blown a gasket. I am not sure because no white smoke comes out of my
exhaust. I am loosing water in the expansion tank and when I rev the engine
at about 3000RPM the engine kind of stalls pop pop!. I removed the weber
air filter and when the chuging begins fumes come out of the carb? I'd
hate to remove the head but if that what must be done. Thanks for any
pointers, Enrique
