Kai,
I should have added in my original email that I have replaced the gas tank
with a new one and preplaced the fuel pump and have flushed the fuel lines
with fresh gasoline. But you bring up an excellent point. Its possible
that, if the old fuel lines are REALLY bad, they may still be introducing
some grit into the float bowls. I'll check that out.
Thanks! -Greg

Try remove the gross jets. They should never be used in a car that is
being
resurrected from long term storage. ANY minuet particles in the gasoline
will find themselves stuck at little ball bearing in the gross jet and
eventually cause a clog there. This is like when your ball point pen gets
clogged with ink... same situation.
Empty the gastank, and flush it out with water. Empty the lines between
the
gastank and carburettor and run fresh gasoline through them. Refill the
tank, reconnect the lines... disconnect the lines to the carburettor, and
stick it in a GLASS jar. Have the car pump gas into the glass jar until
the
gasoline is clear and no particles are present. Reconnect lines to carb,
and see how your carbs are doing then.
